A Special Appeal to my blog readers who live in the Vancouver and Winnipeg areas...
In these two cities HOPE volunteers have interviewed collectively over 300 homeless people in conjunction with Homeless Partners and the Homeless Christmas Wishlist. Please consider going to www.homelesspartners.com, click on "Read Stories" and then click on your city (or one nearest you), choose a Shelter, read the stories and choose an individual and then pledge a gift. Our goal is that every person whom we've interviewed receives at least one gift on Christmas morning.
The scriptures are clear about God's desire that we show kindness to the poor:
-"Those who despise their neighbours are sinners but happy are those who are kind to the poor." (Prov 14:21)
-"Those who oppress the poor insult their Maker but those who are kind to the needy honour him." (Prov 14:31)
-"Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the Lord and will be repaid in full." (Prov 19:17)
On behalf of 300 plus people who will not wake up Christmas morning in their own home, but who will receive practical gifts from caring fellow citizens...Thank you!
I have been a Jesus-follower for 43 years. I still have a lot of questions and doubts about God, Jesus and the Bible. I am at peace with being skeptical believer because I am convinced that faith and doubt are not mutually exclusive. My hope is that, by sharing my journey, these musings might serve as a resource for your own spiritual journey.
